His career spanned two eras of football and left a lasting mark on the game.
Mircea Lucescu is a name spanning two centuries. He was just a football coach, and it was an ordinary career. The former head coach of the Romania national football team and manager of clubs such as FC Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Dynamo Kyiv, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg and FC Dinamo București has passed away at the age of 80, according to media reports.
Lucescu was Romania’s head coach two weeks ago, trying to go to the World Cup. His health has worsened since, and he passed away today around 19:20 h. His health was very weak at that time.
Until recently, he was managing Romania in play-ins for the World Cup, and just a few weeks ago, he was eliminated in the play-offs against the Turkish national football team, after which his team was knocked out.
That match marked his final appearance on the football stage — this time forever.
A few days later, he fell ill at the national team camp and was urgently transferred to the hospital. His condition rapidly deteriorated, and after suffering a heart attack, he was placed in an induced coma.

This evening, around 7 PM, the news of his passing was confirmed.
The coaching career Lucescu.
One career, one life, Mircea Lucescu.
One example. Head coach.
Throughout his remarkable career, Lucescu managed major clubs including Galatasaray S.K., Beşiktaş J.K., Zenit, and Dinamo București. He is considered one of the most decorated and longest-serving managers in football history.

He is the third most successful manager in football history in terms of trophies won, behind Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola, who have won more than Lucescu.
He won a vast number of trophies—more than many legendary coaches such as Carlo Ancelotti, Ernst Happel and José Mourinho.

His career spanned two eras of football and left a lasting mark on the game.
He had faced health issues before and managed to overcome them, but his final attempt to take Romania back to a major tournament ended tragically with his death.

Mircea Lucescu has passed away.
Thank you, sir.
