Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Marc Cucurella for a fee exceeding €51 million. Cucurella endured a very poor season at Chelsea, after which it became clear that a return to his homeland, Spain, was likely. Chelsea, a club that for decades has been known for not keeping unhappy players, agreed to sell Cucurella to Real Madrid in a transfer worth just over €51 million.
The Spanish full-back is currently with the Spanish national team camp, preparing for Spain’s opening Group H match against Cape Verde at the World Cup. He will undergo a medical examination in America before his transfer is officially announced.
You see Mourinho’s defensive stamp pulling the string of defenders transfers.

Real Madrid are also adapting perfectly to the vision of José Mourinho. Even before Mourinho’s arrival, the club had already signed Ibrahima Konaté after his contract with Liverpool FC expired.
They then brought in Denzel Dumfries, and now their third defensive reinforcement is Marc Cucurella, a left-back.

Healing of the Real Madrid defensive line.
The defensive stamp of Mourinho is obvious here. With three defensive signings, he has clearly demonstrated that he has Real Madrid firmly in his hands. Defensive improvement has always been a hallmark of Mourinho’s football philosophy, but it is also something Real desperately needed, as their defence has been completely broken over the past two seasons.

Defensive injuries at the end of the last two campaigns were extremely painful for Real Madrid, and the club lacked defensive quality. Players were pushed to their limits, and injuries severely affected many of them, including former Real defender David Alaba and Éder Militão.
Real Madrid were undoubtedly risking the health of their defenders.

Real Madrid were risking the health of their defenders in pursuit of titles in Spain and the UEFA Champions League, trophies they were ultimately far from. Nevertheless, they continued to push those players physically to stay in the title race, despite being some distance from success.
Chelsea have parted ways with Cucurella, who no longer had the desire to play for the club. In doing so, Chelsea made it clear that the Spanish full-back was not irreplaceable and therefore accepted Real Madrid’s offer.
This is excellent news for Jorrel Hato.
This is excellent news for Jorrel Hato, who enjoyed an outstanding second half of the season at Chelsea. The former Ajax left-back is now the first-choice option on the left side of defence, while solutions such as Caleb Wiley and Kian Best are not considered strong enough long-term options for Chelsea.

His character and lack of loyalty to the club were visible!
Cucurella cost Chelsea heavily because of his open style of play, with numerous goals conceded down his flank. Whenever Chelsea conceded, Cucurella would often be seen arguing with referees and becoming involved in disputes with opponents.

His character and lack of loyalty to the club contributed to Chelsea’s worst defensive season in the club’s history, and following that campaign, the Spaniard was sold to Real Madrid.
Before joining Chelsea, Marc Cucurella played for Brighton & Hove Albion FC and Getafe CF.
