Chelsea’s victory over Tottenham this Saturday afternoon has been perfect for Chelsea. They shouldn’t just be happy with the secure victory — they also showed a fantastic level of football, with all players performing at an extremely high level. All players were excellent, and Tottenham Hotspur has finally been stopped with a great blow and a hard defeat.
Chelsea won 0:1 against Tottenham, but it could have been a much bigger victory considering the two big misses by Gittens and João Pedro in stoppage time.

Was this a mistake by referee Jarred Gillett?
He applied a very flexible standard, allowing roughness and a very sharp style — things that would be judged as fouls in almost every Premier League match. That was visible, and the question is whether a red card should always be a red card. So, it was a mistake by referee Gillett for ignoring Bentancur’s deliberate contact with Reece James’ ankle, with the intention to injure the Chelsea captain.
It was a clean intention to injure James; it should be a red card. He deliberately stepped on James’s ankles with the desire to harm him.
The referees from the VAR room and the VAR have not reacted and don’t find anything suspicious worth checking over. Chelsea was damaged here– the red card should be given to Bentancur.
